Accounts & Access
You are assigned a Western Identity upon applying to Western as a student or when you become an active employee of Western. There is also special access for Affiliated Persons. More info is available on the WTS Website.
You must first have a Western Identity in order to get access to the SSC Network.
Manage Your Western Identity Accounts and Passwords
If you have registered in Western's Identity Manager, you can login to identity.uwo.ca to manage your account. To manage your password or security questions choose the Security tab. For details on changing your password see Managing Passwords.
Service Identities (formerly Non-Person Accounts)
You can also request or manage service identities (formerly generic or non-person accounts) using the Service Identities tab in the Identity Manager. Many departments use these for a shared departmental email account, or guest account with internet or wireless access for someone who is visiting briefly. There is more information on Service Identities on the WTS web site.
Who is Eligible for SSC Network Access?
- Students currently registered in the Faculty of Social Science (Main Campus), or currently registered in a Social Science course (Main Campus) for which the instructor requests SSC Network class access. Class access terminates after the completion of a course.

Course Access
If a Social Science main campus course requires students to have access to software on the SSC Network, such as SPSS, NVivo, MPlus or Stata, a Course Access Application must be completed by the instructor. While most students in your class will be Social Science majors, students from other faculties may be taking the course and will not have access unless an application has been submitted by the instructor. Course access will terminate at the completion of the course.
