SSC Network Update

Y2K Compliance at SSCL

All microcomputer hardware in the SSCL teaching rooms has been upgraded, tested and approved for Y2K compliance. As well, all SSC Network hardware including its core servers, switches and related hardware are Y2K ready. All critical SSC Network operating and system software is also Y2K ready. Most user application software available from the SSC Network (eg. SPSS, SAS, MS Word, etc) is Y2K compliant,. The extensive electronic data holdings of the Data Resources Library is not alterable by its very archival nature. Where data files have used two digit year fields (the incidence of this is very low), appropriate warnings have been added to the data file documentation to caution prospective researchers.

Individuals and department offices throughout the Social Sciences should be in their own final stages of Y2K preparations. Please visit UWO site www.uwo.ca/its/doc/year2000 for more information and assistance in this task. SSCL staff are also available to give personal assistance or advice as needed. Please do not leave this to the eleventh hour!
