SSC Network UpdateCompustatS. Vincent Gray The Business Library has purchased a CD-ROM copy of Standard & Poor's Compustat, which is a product containing up to twenty years of financial data on companies traded on North American stock markets. It contains data for approximately 11,000 US corporations and 900 Canadian corporations. As well, data is available for 10,000 corporations that are no longer traded (having ceased to be traded due to bankruptcy or merger, for example). An international version of the Compustat information is also available. For further details, please refer to www.compustat.com/products/univ_mkt.htm. UWO staff, students, and faculty not associated with the Business School will soon be able to use Compustat at terminals located in the Business Library. Please contact the Business Library at extension 3941 if you wish to use this service. If there is sufficient demand, direct connection to Compustat from the SSC Network is feasible. Provision of the service, however, requires a number of technical issues to be addressed. Please contact Vince Gray, by E-mail at vince@uwo.ca, or by phone at extension 5044, if you wish to lobby for local access. Another alternative, and one that would permit you to use Computstat from home, is to purchase a student or faculty license for either a four month term or a year.
