SSC Network Update

Windows 98 Support

Les Flodrowski

SSCL is offering full support for Windows 98 on the SSC Network. Note, however, that Windows 98 does not contain significantly new functionality to warrant upgrading from Windows 95. Instead, new workstations being supplied with Windows 98 will be the primary candidates for this support.

Although Windows 98 appears to be reasonably stable, some problems have been encountered. So far, these problems appear related to proper support for Windows 98 by producers of third-party software such as Netscape and MatLab. Known problems have been fixed in the latest releases of these products now available on the Network.
