SSC Network Update

Windows 98/ME Support

Les Flodrowski

Windows 98/MeDue to the declining number of computers still running Windows 98 and Windows Me on the SSC Network, future development to this software platform has been suspended. SSCL will continue to support the current installed base but with the following restrictions in place:

  • Updates to existing software applications will not be provided.
  • New applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office 2003 will not be made available.
  • New installations of Windows 98/Me are not available.

Updates to anti-virus software and licenses for existing software such as SPSS will continue to be offered.

Anyone still running Windows 98 or Windows Me is encouraged to migrate to Windows XP Professional. Windows XP provides a much more reliable and robust operating system and is more compatible with the current SSC Network architecture and servers than its predecessors.
