Enhancements to SSNDS “Food Permitted” Rooms

Levy money provided by Social Science students has been used to create more “food permitted” stations within SSNDS.

Room 1012—Consulting Room

A new multifunction work table has been designed and installed in the SSNDS consulting room. The table provides users with eight new workspaces and the ability to use either their own laptops (using either hardwired or wireless network connectivity) or newly acquired desktops with LCD monitors.

Lockdown points for laptop security cables (user-provided) are available at each workspace. Students wishing to use the hardwired connections must bring their own Ethernet cable.

A new high end scanner compatible with the one in the Data Resources Library (DRL) has also been purchased and installed in this room.

Food is permitted at most stations in Room 1012 (but not at the print control station or anywhere near the printers).

Room 1020—Computing Room

Room 1020, the existing “food permitted” room, is now a 24-hour access room.

The centre table has power outlets and hardwired network connections for laptops.

Students wishing to use hardwired connections must bring their own Ethernet cable.
